Job summary

National Grid plc is seeking a Senior Engineer for Gas Asset Management and Engineering in MA, based in Waltham with a hybrid work model. The role focuses on developing non-pipeline alternatives (NPA) assessment processes, and integrating climate compliance into the asset management strategy, with partnerships across engineering teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelors’ degree in an engineering discipline required, ABET-accreditation preferred
• 5+ years of experience in an engineering or technical project role required
• Experience with gas planning using Synergi gas hydraulic modeling software or equivalent preferred
• Experience or training with decarbonization technologies (geothermal heating, renewable natural gas, or hydrogen) preferred
• Experience developing long/short-term investment plans using risk-based gas asset management principles preferred
• Exceptional verbal and written communication required
• Strong computer skills, proficiency with MS Office Suite required
• Experience with utility work management systems, advanced SQL queries, data models, advanced Python, and large-scale data systems across cloud/enterprise platforms preferred
• Valid driver’s license required

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with gas process owners to identify enhancements to evaluate NPAs for gas infrastructure investments
• Assist in development of NPA and Integrated Energy Planning software applications
• Collaborate with stakeholders to implement NPA frameworks and IEP best practices
• Support the Company’s networked geothermal project and electrification demonstration program
• Provide engineering support for decarbonization efforts including regulatory filings and research activities
