Job summary

Nextera Search, a venture capital firm based in New York City, seeks a Senior Associate to lead fund accounting and financial reporting across multiple investment vehicles.

You will oversee capital activity, coordinate with administrators and auditors, and develop dashboards to improve efficiency and scalability in the finance function. Strong analytical skills and multi-priority management are essential.

Qualifications

• 4–12 years of relevant experience in fund accounting, fund finance, fund operations, or a related financial services role.
• Hands-on experience with fund accounting, capital activity, allocations, and fund-level calculations.
• Strong understanding of investment fund structures and financial reporting.
• Experience within alternative investments, asset management, public accounting, or another relevant financial services environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with internal teams, administrators, auditors, and other external service providers.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Experience improving processes and operating effectively in a growing or evolving environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage fund accounting and financial reporting activities across multiple investment vehicles.
• Oversee capital activity, including capital calls, distributions, allocations, and fund-level calculations.
• Coordinate with third-party administrators and internal operations teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Review fund accounting work, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Support investor reporting and respond to financial information requests.
• Assist with fund-level analysis, cash flow monitoring, and other ongoing finance activities.
• Coordinate with auditors and other external service providers throughout the annual audit process.
• Develop and maintain reporting tools and internal dashboards.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to improve accounting processes, controls, and operating procedures.
• Utilize technology and automation tools to improve efficiency and scalability across the finance function.
• Assist with special projects and other fund-related initiatives as needed.
