Job description

A leading global alternative investment manager is seeking a Fund Accountant/Senior Fund Accountant to join its team. The ideal candidate will be technically oriented and an inquisitive problem solver with experience in alternative asset management, financial reporting, and financial controls. This role offers exposure to complex investment structures, private investments, SPVs, regulatory requirements, and accounting operations within a sophisticated and fast-paced investment management environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review internal and external financial reporting, maintaining accurate books and records with an emphasis on private investments and domestic and international SPVs.
• Support the processing and oversight of operating and investment-related activity in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Act as a technical accounting resource, providing guidance and expertise to teams across the organization.
• Execute core fund accounting activities, including daily, monthly, and quarterly reconciliations, valuation reporting, capital activity, break resolution, and review of NAV packages.
• Support accounting for subsidiaries and complex structures, including consolidation matters and the assessment of new accounting guidance impacting funds and portfolio investments.
• Oversee third-party administrators and other service providers, monitoring deliverables and investigating issues to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial information.
• Evaluate financial data and reporting processes to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, transparency, and the timeliness of information provided to management.
• Maintain accurate and consistent daily and period-end reporting across financial systems and ensure key deliverables are completed on a timely basis.
• Partner closely with Middle Office, Tax, and other internal teams to review and process fund transactions, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items.
• Analyze how transaction and amendment data flows through various systems and recommend enhancements to processes, controls, and technology.
• Apply experience with the audit of Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 investments, including assessing valuation methodologies, models, inputs, and key management assumptions.
• Perform and review investment performance and attribution analyses, including complex IRR and waterfall calculations.
