Bauhinia Search Partners is seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to join the finance team in Menlo Park. This hands-on role focuses on fund accounting, financial reporting, and coordinating across multiple investment entities in a collaborative VC environment.

The position offers a hybrid schedule (4 days onsite, 1 day work from home) with a total target cash compensation of $156,000-$180,000 and a 20% annual bonus. Ideal candidates have VC fund accounting experience and a strong eye for detail.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of fund accounting experience.
• Experience in VC or third-party fund administration.
• Hands-on with journal entries, fund transactions, and allocations.
• Understanding of VC fund structures and investment accounting.
• Strong attention to detail and collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and record journal entries across multiple investment funds and related entities.
• Support day-to-day accounting and transaction processing for approximately 50 entities.
• Prepare fund financial statements, supporting schedules, and financial reporting materials.
• Perform fund allocations and maintain accurate accounting records.
• Prepare and coordinate wire transfers and related transactions.
• Assist with audit preparation and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure accurate, timely completion of accounting and reporting activities.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve accuracy, and enhance accounting workflows.
• Collaborate with finance colleagues on various fund accounting and operational initiatives.

Required / Strongly Preferred

• Minimum 3 years of relevant fund accounting experience, with flexibility for exceptional candidates with less experience.
• Experience working within a venture capital firm or at a third-party fund administration service provider supporting investment funds.
• Hands-on experience with journal entries, fund transactions, allocations, and financial statement preparation.
• Understanding of venture capital fund structures and investment accounting.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to accuracy.
• Proactive, resourceful, and eager to learn and take on additional responsibilities.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate within a small team.

Preferred

• Experience preparing for or supporting financial audits.
• Experience accounting for multiple investment entities.
• Relevant private equity fund accounting experience.
• Demonstrated ability to recommend or implement accounting process improvements.
