Job summary

FORT Robotics, Inc. seeks a Functional Safety Manager to own regulatory requirements across IEC 61508, ISO 13849, IEC 62061, and related standards. You will manage safety plans, lifecycle gates, and safety cases for certified subsystems used in dynamic machinery environments.

You will oversee certification body interactions, write safety manuals, and maintain evidence to support customers’ safety arguments, reporting to the CTO and collaborating with the safety and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in functional safety as a practising engineer in regulated domains such as industrial, automotive, aerospace, or medical.
• Experience taking a product through third-party certification end-to-end and owning a substantial part of the safety argument.
• Deep knowledge of IEC 61508, ISO 13849, and IEC 62061 and related annexes.
• Working knowledge of ISO 13849 and IEC 62061 from the supplier side and why they matter for integrators.

Responsibilities

• Own the safety standards picture across IEC 61508, ISO 13849, IEC 62061 and sector standards like ISO 3691-4, ISO 25119, UL 4600, ISO 21448.
• Serve as the named Functional Safety Manager: manage safety plan, lifecycle phases, gate criteria, competence records, and safety case.
• Hold gates and ensure evidence adequacy and independence at every lifecycle phase.
• Author safety manuals and subsystem data packs used by customers and safety arguments.
