Job summary

FORT Robotics, Inc. seeks a Functional Safety Manager to own standards and regulatory requirements across products.

You will bridge IEC 61508 with ISO 13849/IEC 62061, manage safety plans, lifecycle gates, and the safety case, and coordinate with certification bodies to ensure compliant safety arguments. You will author safety manuals, data packs, and annex content, collaborate with CTO and teams, and drive EU Machinery Regulation readiness ahead of 2027 with a strong emphasis on evidence

Qualifications

• 7+ years in functional safety as a practising engineer in regulated domains
• Led safety arguments for at least one product through third‑party certification
• In-depth knowledge of IEC 61508 and safety standards (ISO 13849, IEC 62061)
• Knowledge of ISO 13849 and IEC 62061 from vendor side: what integrators need
• Ability to critically review safety analyses and challenge gaps
• Influence without direct reports; collaborate across teams and with CTO
• B.S. or higher in engineering or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Own safety standards across products and markets (IEC 61508, ISO 13849, IEC 62061)
• Serve as named Functional Safety Manager; manage safety plan, lifecycle phases, gate criteria
• Maintain evidence adequacy for lifecycle gates and independent assessment
• Author safety manuals and data packs (Annex D content, PFHD, architecture data)
• Manage certification body relationships: scope, submission, findings, surveillance
• Monitor EU Machinery Regulation readiness and safety implications for roadmap
• Incorporate field feedback into the safety argument and improvements
