Job summary

FORT's platform enables safe collaboration between people and machines. We seek a seasoned Functional Safety Manager to own the safety plan, lifecycle phases, and safety case across products and markets, ensuring IEC 61508, ISO 13849, and IEC 62061 compliance.

You will author safety manuals, manage certification bodies end-to-end, monitor regulatory changes such as EU Machinery Regulation readiness, and analyze field modifications to strengthen the safety argument.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in functional safety as a practicing engineer in industrial, automotive, aerospace, or medical domains.
• Experience taking at least one product through third-party certification end-to-end.
• Deep fluency in IEC 61508 parts 1-3.
• Working knowledge of ISO 13849 and IEC 62061 from the supplier side.

Requirements

• 7+ years in functional safety as a practicing engineer in industrial, automotive, aerospace, or medical domains
• Experience taking at least one product through third-party certification end-to-end
• Deep fluency in IEC 61508 parts 1-3
• Working knowledge of ISO 13849 and IEC 62061 from the supplier side
• Ability to critically review safety analysis and challenge technical claims
• B.S. or higher in an engineering discipline, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

• TÜV Rheinland FS Engineer or Exida CFSE/CFSP certification
• Experience with AGV and AMR under ISO 3691-4 or agricultural machinery under ISO 25119
• Exposure to autonomy and SOTIF (UL 4600, ISO 21448)
• Experience working at a certification body or as a contracted assessor
