Job summary

Agility Robotics seeks a Principal Robotics Functional Safety Engineer to shape safety strategy for complex robotic systems from architecture through deployment, with cross-functional collaboration across hardware, software, and controls teams.

You’ll lead safety deliverables, manage V&V activities, and mentor a growing team while ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements. Hybrid, Fremont-based role.

Qualifications

• BS in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 12+ years in robotics or safety-critical engineering, incl. 7+ years FS.
• Experience with risk reduction methods and hierarchy of controls.
• FS lifecycle practices aligned with ISO 13849 / IEC 61508.
• Familiarity with ANSI/RIA R15.08 and ISO 10218 family.

Responsibilities

• Lead functional safety efforts from concept through deployment across platforms.
• Create safety deliverables: risk assessments, SRS, FMEDA, SISTEMA, safety cases.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, controls, and systems engineers.
• Support customer deployments with remote and on-site safety guidance.
• Oversee V&V with third-party labs, CE marking and regulatory work.
• Mentor safety engineers and shape team technical depth.
