Job summary

Somethings seeks a Lead React Engineer to join our NYC hybrid team and own core web experiences powering mentors and operations. You will ship fast, accessible UI and build end-to-end features across React and backend services.

With 4+ years of experience in React, you will collaborate across design, product, growth, and clinical ops. We offer a salary range of $180,000 - $250,000, significant equity, comprehensive health insurance, and generous ownership in a mission-driven company.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with modern React patterns.
• Experience building production-grade React apps.
• Experience with REST/GraphQL APIs, authentication, and real-time data.
• Experience with state management libraries such as Zustand, Jotai, Redux, or TanStack Query.
• Strong understanding of web performance, accessibility, and responsive design.
• Experience with CSS-in-JS or utility-first CSS systems (Tailwind, styled-components).
• Experience using Git, writing tests, and working within CI/CD pipelines.
• Bonus: Next.js, SSR/SSG patterns, or full-stack TypeScript (tRPC, Prisma).

Responsibilities

• Own full-stack product development across React and backend services.
• Collaborate closely with design, product, growth, and clinical ops.
• Run user conversations with mentors and ops staff to deeply understand needs.
• Maintain a clean, scalable codebase as we grow quickly.
• Elevate our Mentor Operations Platform from functional to world-class.
