Job summary

Clera seeks a design engineer to build product interfaces for AI training environments, blending design judgment with front-end and full-stack engineering to create workflows that are clear, useful, and actionable for users.

You will collaborate with research and engineering to turn reinforcement learning workflows into usable tools, talk with users to identify pain points, and raise the bar for usability, visual quality, and implementation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years shipping product interfaces in design engineering or related roles.
• Experience turning designs into working front-end interfaces; full-stack experience is relevant.
• Portfolio of shipped design-engineering work with evidence of user-feedback-driven improvements.
• Strong technical fundamentals and ability to work with engineers and researchers.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly.

About the Role

Join a product team building tools for creating and evaluating AI training environments. You will combine design judgment with front-end and full-stack engineering to make technically complex workflows clear, useful, and actionable for users.

What We're Looking For

• At least 3 years of experience in design engineering, product design, or a similar role shipping product interfaces.

• Front-end engineering skills, with experience turning designs into working interfaces; full-stack product engineering experience is also relevant.

• A portfolio of shipped design-engineering work and a track record of improving products through user feedback.

• Technical education or strong technical fundamentals, and experience working closely with engineers and researchers.

• Good product and interaction design judgment, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.

• Experience with developer tools, data-rich products, research software, AI agents, evaluations, reinforcement learning, or training data is useful.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $130,000 to $225,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available.

Location

Primarily on-site in San Francisco, California, with some remote arrangements available.
