Job summary

MO is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help modernize VA eligibility and enrollment systems, serving millions of Veterans, their families, and caregivers. You will design, develop, and maintain enterprise Java applications and backend services using Java 17+, Spring Boot, and REST APIs.

Work with architects and senior developers on modernization projects, optimize SQL and Oracle DB integrations, and participate in code reviews, testing, and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 5–8 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on Java development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Experience developing REST APIs and web services.
• Experience with Oracle or other relational databases.
• Experience using Git and working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications.
• Analyze and resolve complex software defects and production issues.
• Support enhancements and sustainment for applications using Java, Spring, Struts, JSP, EJB, JMS, WebLogic, Hibernate, Oracle.
• Design and implement REST and SOAP-based services and integrations.
• Develop and maintain backend services with Java 17+, Spring Boot, microservices, JPA/Hibernate, REST APIs.
• Collaborate with architects and senior developers on modernization initiatives.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries and database integrations.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers.
• Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD processes, and deployments.
