Job summary

Laansu is seeking a Senior Software Developer to build and support software used by the Department of Transportation and the public to ensure road safety. The role requires a US citizen or eligible to work, clearable for a Public Trust position, and 5–10 years in software development with strong Java and full-stack experience.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement in Sterling, VA, with benefits and a focus on long-term, scalable software for government contracting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5-10 years of software development experience.
• 5+ years of Java OO programming experience.
• 5+ years building web applications or APIs.
• 5+ years designing relational databases (tables, views, stored procedures, indexes).
• 3+ years building rich UIs with HTML/CSS/Bootstrap/Angular/jQuery/TypeScript.
• Experience with AWS Cloud (ECS, RDS, KMS).
• Experience with ORM tools like Hibernate/JPA or similar.
• Experience with Git or similar version control.
• Hands-on full-stack development with Angular frontend and Java backend.
• Experience with Microservices and backend service design.
• Hands-on with Docker/container deployments.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or similar).
• Experience deploying apps in AWS (ECS, RDS, KMS).
• Experience with ORM frameworks like Hibernate/JPA or similar.

Responsibilities

• Receive tasks from program manager and estimate timelines.
• Follow agile sprint schedules and assist with testing as needed.
• Peer-review colleagues' work and provide constructive feedback.
• Document design decisions and technical details.
• Maintain source code version control.
• Lead the team and mentor juniors.
• Deliver robust software solutions in service over years.
• Take on additional responsibilities and grow in role.
