Job summary

BuildOps is hiring a Staff Software Engineer in Los Angeles. You will architect and optimize the full-stack platform across scalable frontend (React.js) and high-performance backend (Node.js, GraphQL, REST).

You’ll mentor engineers, influence best practices, and drive technical excellence in a distributed team. The role emphasizes driving performance, observability, and scalable software to support the commercial contracting industry.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering with strong full-stack JavaScript/TypeScript experience.
• Deep React.js expertise and scalable frontend architectures.
• Backend strong with Node.js, GraphQL APIs (Apollo/Relay) and RESTful services.
• Proficient in SQL databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and performance tuning.
• Experience with CI/CD, containers, and cloud infrastructure.
• Mentor developers, conduct design reviews, and foster growth.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and optimize the full-stack platform across frontend and backend.
• Lead technical decisions for performance, maintainability, and best practices.
• Design, develop, and optimize APIs powering UI and integrations.
• Improve database design and query performance.
• Advance the design system and UI components with Material-UI.
• Own observability with logging, monitoring, and performance analysis.
• Mentor engineers and lead technical initiatives across teams.
• Collaborate with product, customers, and leadership on roadmap.
