Job summary

The Washington Post seeks a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join the Subscriptions team. This frontend‑focused role emphasizes React and TypeScript while contributing to Java and Node.js backend services and AWS infrastructure.

You will own features from design to production, collaborate across engineering and product teams, and mentor peers while advancing accessibility, performance, and reliability of our subscription experiences.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of frontend development with React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• 3+ years of backend development with Java, Node.js, or both.
• 2+ years of experience deploying and operating applications in AWS.
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, responsive design, accessibility, and frontend performance.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and frontend architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and operate customer-facing applications for subscriptions.
• Develop frontend apps with React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Collaborate with backend engineers on API contracts and integration.
• Support production with on-call rotations and incident response.
