Job summary

The Washington Post is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join the Subscriptions team. This role spans the full application stack with emphasis on cloud infrastructure, delivery systems, and operations to keep subscription products reliable and scalable.

You will work across Java backend, Node.js services, and React frontend when needed, owning design through deployment, and applying AI-assisted tooling to automate and improve systems.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years AWS production experience.
• 4+ years CI/CD and IaC in production.
• 3+ years Java backend development.
• 2+ years Node.js experience.
• Experience with self-hosted platforms like Jenkins/Airflow.
• Strong communication and architectural skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy, and operate subscription apps.
• Own solutions throughout lifecycle from design to production.
• Design and maintain scalable AWS infrastructure.
• Build and evolve CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• Develop backend services in Java and Node.js.
• Contribute to frontend with React when needed.
• Establish observability and incident response.
• Mentor engineers and set technical standards.
