Job summary

Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to design and deliver end-to-end features across Java services and React interfaces. You will set engineering standards, guide major modernization efforts, and collaborate with IS, business stakeholders, and security teams.

You will own REST API design, front-end architecture, and CI/CD practices while mentoring engineers and ensuring accessibility and performance standards for member-facing applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with 6+ years hands-on software development experience on server and browser tiers.
• Experience modernizing or migrating legacy Java applications to cloud-native platforms.
• Knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and secure coding practices (OWASP Top 10).
• Strong collaboration with stakeholders and ability to guide technical design decisions.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and support full-stack applications from data access and business logic to the user interface.
• Lead code reviews and establish coding, testing, error handling, and documentation standards.
• Develop and govern secure REST APIs and service contracts for internal and member-facing interfaces.
• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers and drive best practices in CI/CD and test automation.
• Own build tooling and front-end patterns (e.g., Webpack) and champion component-based development.
