Job summary

Cara Care is a digital health company expanding its platform to deliver gut health therapies. We are seeking a versatile Senior Full-Stack Engineer to own backend services with Python/Django and contribute to React Native apps, tying in AI-assisted workflows.

You’ll collaborate with product, design, and medical teams to build patient-centric features for IBS, GERD, and other indications while upholding security and regulatory standards across IEC 62304 and MDR.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend focus
• Backend development skills in Python, TypeScript, Java, or PHP (current stack: Python, Django, PostgreSQL)
• Working knowledge of React Native and TypeScript with ability to test/mobile app changes
• Solid understanding of relational databases, APIs, distributed systems and services
• Experience writing and maintaining automated tests for backend services and APIs
• Strong backend security and privacy knowledge including secrets management

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate reliable backend services and APIs using Python, Django, and PostgreSQL
• Contribute to React Native apps with TypeScript
• Use AI coding agents to implement features, refactor code, and generate tests
• Take end-to-end view of features across mobile clients, APIs, data models, and infrastructure
• Own backend delivery from architecture to automated testing, deployment, monitoring, and CI/CD
• Improve performance and reliability of backend services, APIs, and databases
• Connect AI-assisted development to tools via MCP and ensure data security
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Medical for patient-centric features
• Uphold technical excellence including IEC 62304, BSI TR-03161, MDR
• Mentor other developers and raise technical bar
