Job summary

The RealReal is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack) to join our Growth team. You will design, build, and ship backend services and internal tooling for item creation, enrichment, configuration, listing, and merchandising workflows used by operators and shoppers.

You will collaborate with product and engineering leadership across JVM, Elixir, Ruby, React, TypeScript, GraphQL, and AWS, owning features end-to-end while driving reliability, security, and performance.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong communication with product, stakeholders and peers.
• Experience building production-ready web apps and backend systems.
• Passion for testing, observability, and reliable delivery.
• Experience influencing technical direction, not just executing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship backend services and internal tooling for item workflows.
• Produce high-quality, secure, and testable code; handle data per policy.
• Develop across JVM, Elixir, Ruby, React, TypeScript, GraphQL, AWS/Lambda, PostgreSQL.
• Own medium-to-large features end-to-end for clarity and maintainability.
• Influence architecture, standards, and delivery; review PRs and pair with teammates.
