Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to design and build AI-powered digital solutions near Providence, RI. This role emphasizes developing from ground up, leveraging AI tools, and delivering business impactful software.

You’ll partner with business users, drive rapid prototyping, and lead a small engineering team in a fast-paced manufacturing-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development, including building apps from scratch.
• Strong experience with AI-assisted coding tools (Codex, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar).
• Some experience with technical leadership and/or people management.
• Strong experience with SQL, databases, APIs, and enterprise integration.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and support custom software apps and digital solutions.
• Utilize AI-assisted tools to accelerate development and innovation.
• Partner with stakeholders to identify challenges, prototype solutions, and iterate quickly.

W2 Permanent / Full-Time position with our long-term client near Providence, RI

• Location: Providence, RI (Onsite 4 days/week, Remote Fridays)

What You'll Do

• Design, build, deploy, and support custom software applications and digital solutions
• Utilize AI-assisted and agentic development tools to accelerate development and innovation
• Partner with business stakeholders to identify challenges, prototype solutions, and rapidly iterate based on feedback
• Develop web applications, dashboards, reporting tools, workflows, and data-driven business applications
• Integrate enterprise data, databases, and APIs to create scalable solutions
• Evaluate and implement emerging AI and automation technologies
• Provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on with software development
• Lead and mentor a small team of engineers

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, including experience in building applications from scratch
• Strong experience using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Codex, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar)
• Some experience with Technical Leadership and/or people management
• Strong experience SQL, databases, APIs, and enterprise application integration
• Experience leading developers or providing technical leadership
• Ability to work directly with business users and translate requirements into practical solutions
• Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or operations experience
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
• Power BI, Power Platform, or data visualization experience
• Experience with AI, intelligent automation, machine learning, or advanced analytics
• Experience modernizing legacy applications and reducing reliance on third-party SaaS solutions
