Job summary

QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey in New York seeks an experienced software engineer to drive architectural decisions and deliver scalable AI-enabled software across industries. You will own technical direction, design robust systems, and mentor both client and internal teams as you collaborate with cross-functional partners.

You will shape cloud-native architectures, implement secure APIs, and lead efforts across Design, Product, and Engineering to deliver high-impact solutions.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or master’s degree; or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing full-stack applications.
• Proficiency in at least two frontend or backend frameworks; hands-on experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Angular, Next.js, Vue.js, Java, Spring, C#, Node.js; SQL/NoSQL; cloud platforms; and CI/CD tooling.
• Designing complex, secure APIs (REST and GraphQL); scalability, rate limiting, caching, and API gateways; familiarity with microservices architectures.
• Two cloud providers; IaC and CI/CD pipelines; zero-downtime deployment; cloud-native architectures for scalability and reliability.
• Advanced proficiency in AI-assisted engineering; orchestrating agents and ensuring safe AI applications.
• Experience architecting AI systems with evaluation frameworks, guardrails, and validation methodologies.
• Security-first mindset; OAuth/OIDC; secure development practices; testing and performance optimization.
• Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams and fostering strong engineering culture.
• Excellent time management and English communication; able to adapt style for different stakeholders.
