Next Step Systems in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking a seasoned Full Stack Developer to help build a next-generation global shipping platform. This hybrid role requires strong Java 17+ and Spring Boot experience, with a path from legacy PHP toward modular microservices.

You will work with a multinational engineering team across time zones, develop a PaaS carrier integration platform with REST APIs, and leverage AI-assisted development to improve delivery and scalability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Java development in enterprise-scale systems.
• Strong REST API design and integration experience at scale.
• Experience with AWS cloud-native architectures and CI/CD workflows.
• Experience with AI tooling (Claude AI) for development.

Responsibilities

• Develop a global logistics platform and modernize a PHP monolith to Java 24 / Spring Boot 3 microservices.
• Build a PaaS carrier integration platform with REST APIs for rating, shipping, tracking and labeling.
• Collaborate with a 30+ person multinational team across time zones.
• Apply AI-augmented engineering throughout the SDLC.
