SI in South Windsor, CT is seeking a senior backend developer to own the backend of a large, data-driven healthcare web application. You will work hybrid, make architectural decisions, and translate client needs into solid technical solutions.

The role requires 7+ years of backend experience, strong MySQL, PHP (Laravel/Symfony), and the ability to work with clients. You’ll review existing systems, write clean code from database to front-end templates, and thrive in a collaborative,

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Comfort building large applications and handling big projects.
• Make architectural decisions and clearly explain the reasoning behind them.
• Strong MySQL knowledge and solid database schema design skills.
• Own and stand behind every decision in your code.
• Value ownership and integrity, including identifying issues and challenging poor decisions.
• Eager to keep learning.
• Experience with Laravel or Symfony is a plus.
• Frontend experience with JavaScript, Vue, or React is a plus.
• Agency or client-facing experience is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with ProcessWire is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 5 years of PHP experience.
• 7 years of back-end development experience preferred.
• English proficiency required.
• Located in South Windsor, CT 06074 or nearby commuting distance.
• Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Build the backend of a large, data-driven healthcare web application using Python for data processing.
• Make architectural decisions around content models, data structure, API design, and how modules and services connect.
• Write clean, maintainable code and own it from database schema through front-end template.
• Review and improve existing systems, not just add new functionality.
• Work directly with clients to translate business needs into technical solutions.
