Job summary

The New York Times is seeking a senior software engineer to lead the technical evolution of our programmatic video advertising capabilities. You will collaborate with product teams to build video-first ad experiences across NYT products.

In this role you will design and implement identity resolution, apply industry standards like VAST/VPAID, monitor performance, and mentor engineers to uphold high code quality while supporting journalistic independence.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with AdTech focus.
• Experience with programmatic advertising including bidder configuration and identity providers.
• Familiarity with video delivery and signaling protocols (VAST/VPAID).

Responsibilities

• Architect Video Ad Products across NYT products (outstream and instream).
• Design and implement identity resolution within the programmatic stack with privacy in mind.
• Implement and promote industry standards for video delivery (VAST/VPAID).
• Oversee end-to-end video ad performance focusing on Core Web Vitals and first frame delay.
• Mentor engineers and uphold code quality in a fast-paced ad-tech environment.
