Job summary

Selara is hiring frontend engineers to work on VA.gov, the digital front door for the Department of Veterans Affairs. The frontend is a large, long-lived React codebase, and you will build user-facing features using modern patterns and TypeScript.

This fully remote role within the United States involves collaborating with a distributed team, applying accessibility standards, testing rigor, and contributing to migrations that scale the frontend platform.

Qualifications

• Experience building production React applications using modern patterns.
• Fluency in TypeScript and current JavaScript tooling.
• Track record shipping accessible interfaces with accessibility as a requirement.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship user-facing features in the VA.gov frontend.
• Write modern React using function components, hooks, and TypeScript.
• Migrate older class components and Redux patterns toward modern standards.
• Integrate with REST APIs and handle loading, error, and offline states.
• Strengthen test coverage with component tests and end-to-end tests.
• Review code, improve CI feedback, and collaborate with a distributed team.
• At staff level, set technical direction and mentor engineers.
