Job summary

Okta is hiring a Software Engineer II in San Francisco to build the interfaces users rely on to work with autonomous AI workers. You will own surfaces like chat experiences, memory views, live run timelines, and approval flows that keep humans in control.

You will work with backend and agent engineers to shape APIs and event streams, optimize performance, and ship consistent, polished interfaces across devices. This is a senior IC role requiring 5+ years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of front-end experience delivering product surfaces used by real users.
• Experience building chat, copilot, or other LLM-powered interfaces in production.
• Hands-on experience with real-time UIs: WebSockets, server-sent events, streaming rendering.

Responsibilities

• Build the conversational interface for long-horizon agents: streaming responses and tool calls.
• Design and ship memory management interfaces showing what an agent knows and context used.
• Create live agent run views with plans, steps, artifacts, retries, and real-time rendering.
