Job summary

Ad Hoc LLC is hiring a Senior Software Engineer - Front End/Back End (Library of Congress) for a remote role. You will contribute across frontend and backend stacks, mentor teammates, and drive delivery with minimal supervision in a federal civilian program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Demonstrates expert-level knowledge in frontend or backend engineering (Angular, JavaScript, HTML/CSS) or (Python, Java 21, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch).
• Demonstrates expert-level knowledge with Spring Boot 4 framework.
• Strong working knowledge of containerized microservices and AWS services (ECS, RDS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch).
• Experience building and consuming versioned RESTful APIs with published OpenAPI specifications.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines in GitLab and version control via Git.
• Working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to translate technical decisions for non-technical audiences including federal agency stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Acts as an experienced individual contributor with leadership and mentoring responsibilities.
• Supports meeting scope, schedule, and delivery requirements with minimal oversight.
• Leads design reviews, system diagrams, and client presentations as needed.
• Mentors junior engineers and coordinates integration with adjacent systems.
• Communicates technical issues clearly to team members and clients.
• Participates in technical interviews and influences engineering practices.
