Job summary

Primer is a remote-first, globally distributed company building the payments layer for leading merchants. You will own frontend architecture for the self-serve onboarding and platform experience, with a high degree of ownership over how it’s built and shipped.

You’ll split time between frontend and backend work, mentoring engineers and setting conventions. This role offers a high-autonomy culture with strong onboarding and a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Strong, proven frontend expertise with experience architecting and building complex frontend applications.
• Willing to be the most senior frontend voice, able to push back on design/product when needed.
• Some backend experience and willingness to work in a Python codebase.

Responsibilities

• Lead frontend architecture and technical direction for the onboarding and platform experience.
• Spend about 80% of time on frontend and 20% on backend; split may vary by project.
• Partner with Design to shape onboarding and platform experiences from concept to production.
• Mentor and raise the bar for engineers joining the team.
• Set frontend conventions and quality standards for an evolving team.
• Contribute to the Python backend where needed to unblock frontend work.
