Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and improve the Canvas platform that powers the company’s visual thinking experience. You will work on real-time collaboration, document editing, asset management, and scalable APIs to deliver fast, reliable editor experiences.

You’ll partner with Product, Design, and Engineering to turn ambiguous problems into maintainable technical solutions, mentor teammates, and raise engineering quality across the Canvas

Qualifications

• Fluency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript with React/Node.js experience.
• 6+ years building and shipping large-scale production software in an agile team.
• Strong engineering judgment for scalable, reliable systems and developer-facing abstractions.
• Experience designing clean API contracts and service boundaries.
• Experience building distributed, low-latency systems with strong synchronization.
• Interest in AI-enabled product capabilities and practical AI tooling.
• Performance profiling, bottleneck analysis, and responsive systems at scale.
• Familiarity with parallel processing and multi-threaded architectures.
• Strong communication and collaboration across Product, Design, and Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver Canvas platform capabilities from definition to release and iteration.
• Collaborate with Product/Design to shape high-quality user experiences.
• Design and build maintainable platform systems with focus on quality and developer experience.
• Contribute to APIs, service boundaries, and platform contracts for internal teams.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to prototype, implement, test, and measure work.
• Mentor teammates and participate in code reviews and engineering practice improvements.
• Build and evolve canvas systems with rich document models and asset management.
