Job summary

STV Group is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector with freight rail experience to support rail infrastructure projects across the nationwide rail network. You will oversee construction activities related to track, crossings, yards, and related civil improvements, ensuring work meets contract documents and safety standards.

You will mentor inspectors, document field activities, and coordinate with clients, engineers, and contractors.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of construction engineering and inspection experience, preferably with freight rail or heavy civil projects.
• Knowledge of FRA Track Safety Standards and railroad regulations is preferred.
• Ability to prepare field reports, RFI logs, and change order support.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and inspect construction activities related to freight rail infrastructure.
• Ensure work complies with contract documents, standards, and safety requirements.
• Identify nonconforming work and drive timely corrective actions with contractors and stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate project documentation (RFIs, submittals, daily inspection reports, pay quantities).
• Support schedule coordination, field progress tracking, and outage planning for freight rail corridors.
• Supervise and coordinate inspectors and field technicians to ensure safe, consistent inspections.
• Communicate with freight rail clients, contractors, engineers, agencies, and local stakeholders.
• Prepare field correspondence, inspection reports, and recommendations.
