Job summary

Morton Salt, Inc. is seeking a Senior Category Analyst to plan, source and negotiate transportation services for assigned categories to minimize total cost to serve.

The role involves data preparation for RFx activities, developing category strategies, supplier performance management and cost saving initiatives. The position requires strong negotiation skills, SAP/TMS experience, and a track record in freight procurement within a food-related or similar environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; 7+ years of supply chain/logistics experience may substitute.
• 3 years freight procurement experience required.
• Experience with SAP, WMS or TMS and reporting packages highly preferred.
• Experience sourcing in freight categories such as truck and intermodal is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Actively manage the procurement of transportation services and create/store contracts for the assigned transportation category.
• Manage the relationship between internal customers and carriers/suppliers.
• Collaborate with operations, QA, and plants to address and elevate transportation quality issues.
• Prepare RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs and analyze offers; lead price negotiations with vendors.
