Job summary

Capital Area Health Network (CAHN) in Richmond, VA seeks a Senior Certified Coder with 5+ years of professional coding experience, including 3+ years in an FQHC setting. You will code outpatient visits across primary care, behavioral health, dental, and preventive services, ensuring compliance with ICD-10-CM, CPT, and payer guidelines.

Applicants should hold AAPC CPC/CPC-H/CPC-P or RHIT certification and be proficient with EHR and billing systems. Knowledge of PPS and RHC models is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of professional coding experience, with at least 3 years in an FQHC setting.
• Extensive experience with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS Level II, and Medicare/Medicaid coding guidelines.
• Strong understanding of FQHC-specific reimbursement models, including PPS and RHC, and billing procedures.
• Proficient in using coding software and practice management systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed coding of outpatient visits across primary care, behavioral health, dental, and preventive services per FQHC guidelines.
• Review and ensure accurate coding for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers.
• Mentor and train junior coders; provide guidance on coding best practices.
• Participate in audits, chart reviews, and responses to coding-related queries.
