Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Sr. FPGA Firmware Developer to join the COMSEC team within the Core Systems and Components group. You will design, develop, and verify FPGA firmware for secure communications, collaborating with hardware and systems teams to deliver high‑performance solutions in support of Blue Origin’s missions.

The role requires a 10+ year background in FPGA firmware, VHDL/Verilog, and experience with major toolchains. A U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in FPGA firmware development.
• Proficiency in VHDL and/or Verilog/SystemVerilog.
• Experience with FPGA toolchains (Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus).
• Strong digital design, timing, and verification knowledge.
• Working knowledge of AXI bus implementations.
• Experience collaborating with hardware teams and reading schematics.
• Ability to obtain/maintain U.S. Government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, simulate, and verify FPGA firmware for COMSEC applications.
• Collaborate with circuit designers and embedded developers through full lifecycle.
• Define firmware architecture, requirements, and interfaces.
• Perform synthesis, place-and-route, timing analysis.
• Support hardware bring-up, integration, and testing.
• Troubleshoot firmware issues in lab/field environments.
• Contribute to design reviews and documentation.
