Job summary

RTX is seeking a firmware engineer to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on new hardware and control architectures. You will architect, simulate, implement, test and troubleshoot firmware updates for controls systems in a lab environment, with SME-guided requirements.

The role involves FPGA design/verification, working with Xilinx/Altera platforms, UART/PCIe interfaces, and real-time control concepts. Onsite in McKinney, TX with possible travel.

Qualifications

• Requires STEM degree and 5+ years in related engineering fields.
• Experience with hardware development/integration and FPGA design/verification (3+ yrs).
• Experience with FPGA debugging tools (Xilinx/Vivado).
• Familiarity with PCIe, 10/100 Gb Ethernet, multi‑gig serial standards.
• Experience with Xilinx/Altera FPGA/SoCs, Zynq, Kintex/ArteZ etc.
• Ability to translate system requirements into hardware, and work with SMEs.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with electrical/hardware teams to create firmware for new hardware and control architectures.
• Architect and implement control solutions based on SME-defined requirements and algorithms.
• Simulate, implement, test, and troubleshoot firmware updates; support design reviews.
• Provide integration of firmware on controls systems; work in a lab/scrum environment.
