Job summary

RTX is seeking an onsite firmware/FPGA engineer in McKinney, TX to create firmware for new hardware and control architectures. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and translate system requirements into hardware baselines, implementing algorithms within the hardware and validating through lab tests.

The role emphasizes FPGA design with Xilinx/Altera platforms, PCIe and high-speed interfaces, and hands-on hardware integration in a dynamic aerospace/defense setting.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with hardware development and FPGA logic design and verification (3+ yrs).
• Experience testing with FPGA debugging tools (e.g., Vivado).
• Experience with PCIe and multi-gigabit Ethernet interfaces.
• Experience designing with FPGA/SoCs like Zynq/Kintex/Virtex Ultrascale.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to create firmware for new hardware and controls architectures.
• Architect and implement controls solutions per SME-defined requirements in a lab environment.
• Simulate, implement, test, and troubleshoot firmware updates for controls systems.
• Work with systems, mechanical, and software engineers in product development.
• Design architectures for new business pursuits or design systems; occasional travel may be required.
