We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role is a part of New Shepard, a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Kármán line – the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability, New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space.

As part of the New Shepard Avionics FPGA development team, you will design and develop, high-performance avionics' hardware for various flight vehicles.

You will be integrated with our rocket program and technical leads to drive requirements definition, modeling, analysis, design, test, and production release of on-vehicle systems. Your responsibilities will encompass electronic requirements, architecture concepts, detailed design, development, and test. In addition, you will participate in flight support activities.

Our New Shepard Avionics FPGA team is responsible for FPGA architecture, design, verification, and qualification. In addition to the general qualifications above, we are looking for dedicated individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • FPGA design and verification to produce safety critical spacecraft hardware
  • Proven ability to author technical documentation for complex electronics
  • Familiarity with DO-178, DO-254 and/or other development assurance guidelines
  • Experience with launch vehicle Avionics systems
  • Experience / exposure to IBM DOORS for requirements management

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Qualifications:
  • B.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • 8+ years of proven experience with Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA)/ASIC design, and FPGA tool flow in a Linux environment
  • Experience designing and developing high-performance FPGA solutions for use in highly integrated (SW and HW) systems
  • Full Product Life Cycle development experience — from requirements development through final release
  • Experience with Modelsim, or Questasim simulators and Synopsys tools for design. Vendors: Microchip, Xilinx (AMD), Altera (Intel)
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
