Job description

Details:

A REMOTE Principal FPGA Design Engineer position is available through Belcan for our aerospace client. This is a part-time role, remote from anywhere in the U.S. To qualify, candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and extensive FPGA/ASIC design experience. Aerospace and defense project experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities include front-end RTL design based on system and unit requirements, module design, simulation, and providing guidance to junior engineers on RTL coding, FPGA IP selection, synthesis, constraints development, clock/reset considerations, and simulation analysis.

Job Duties:

1. Generate detailed RTL models meeting feature and performance requirements.
2. Document all aspects of the aerospace development project.
3. Support program deliverables and schedule milestones.
4. Coordinate and lead team members in design efforts.
5. Communicate with customers regarding project status and queries.
6. Assist in solving design issues and debugging.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering; advanced degrees preferred.
2. 10+ years of FPGA/ASIC front-end design experience, specifically in aerospace.
3. Deep knowledge of design tools, debugging, timing, reset strategies, and DO-254 DAL-A compliance.
4. Experience with DO-254 development processes and documentation.
5. Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, and debugging skills.
6. US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.
