Job summary

Google is looking for a hardware engineer to help develop the first Google CPU, focusing on FP datapaths and high-performance SIMD paths. You will work closely with architecture and micro-architects to balance performance, power, and area while meeting aggressive deadlines.

Ideal candidates have strong experience in IEEE 754 datapath design and FP/SIMD techniques, with a track record of delivering high-clock-rate designs and efficient power management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 4 years of experience with IEEE 754 datapath implementations including design, verification and physical implementation issues.
• Experience with Floating Point (FP) and SIMD ISA.

Responsibilities

• Create the first Google Central Processing Unit (CPU) for processor design team.
• Define floating point data paths implementing the IEEE 754 standard while achieving performance, clock and low power goals.
• Implement integer SIMD and floating point SIMD data paths focusing on power/performance.
• Work with architecture teams to define high performance FP-ISA support and retirement logic.
