Job summary

Lyell Immunopharma in San Francisco seeks an Associate Director, FP&A to lead budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting, partnering with R&D, Clinical, G&A, Commercial and other functions. You will build driver‑based models and manage headcount, expenses, and strategic analyses to enable informed decisions across the business.

The role emphasizes cross‑functional collaboration, process improvement, and robust financial planning to support Lyell’s next‑generation cell therapy programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• MBA or related advanced degree preferred.
• 8+ years of FP&A experience.
• 5+ years in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry with drug development knowledge.
• Experience with annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and monthly reporting.
• Experience partnering with R&D, Clinical, G&A and other leaders to track spend and KPIs.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting with cross‑functional inputs.
• Own monthly FP&A reporting, KPI analysis, and driver insights for leadership.
• Track spend with R&D, Clinical, G&A, Commercial; identify key cost drivers.
• Develop driver‑based financial models linking operations to financials.
• Lead headcount and operating expense planning with HR.
• Support long‑range planning and commercial forecast development.
• Improve FP&A systems, data integration, and automation.
• Partner with Accounting to align forecasts with results.
