Job summary

Lyell Immunopharma is seeking an Associate Director, FP&A to lead the company’s financial planning and analysis activities, including budgeting, quarterly forecasting, monthly reporting, variance analysis, and modeling across R&D, Clinical, G&A, and Commercial.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA preferred.
• 8+ years in FP&A or related finance function.
• 5+ years in biotech/pharma with drug development lifecycle knowledge.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting.
• Experience partnering with R&D, Clinical, and G&A to track spend and KPIs.
• Experience with FP&A systems, data integration, and automation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting with cross‑functional inputs.
• Own monthly FP&A reporting, KPI tracking, and variance analysis.
• Track spend with R&D, Clinical, G&A, Commercial to identify cost drivers.
• Develop driver‑based financial models linking ops assumptions to performance.
• Lead headcount and operating expense planning with HR and functions.
• Support long‑range planning with cross‑functional inputs and timely submissions.
• Help develop the company’s commercial forecast with key operating drivers.
• Improve FP&A systems, data integration, automation, and forecasting methods.
• Partner with Accounting to align forecasts with reported results.
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis for strategic decisions.
