Job summary

The Banner, a nonprofit, digital local news organization in Baltimore, seeks a Senior Finance Business Partner, FP&A to join our Finance team. You will help leaders understand the financial picture, support budgeting and forecasting, build models, review expenses, and assist with Power BI dashboards and month-end close. You will report to the Director of FP&A.

Salary range: $90k–$115k. Teammates receive benefits and growth opportunities in a mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• At least five years of relevant experience.
• Strong financial background with working knowledge of financial analytics.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to establish priorities and manage competing responsibilities with deadlines.
• Advanced Excel skills required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Moderate to advanced Power BI experience required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain financial models to support forecasting and budget planning.
• Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for executives and senior managers.
• Analyze expenses, identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization.
• Serve as a liaison to department managers for strategic decisions.
• Participate in the month-end close process including variance analysis and expense reconciliation.
• Assist with Power BI migration, dashboards, data accuracy and security.
• Create ad hoc analyses and collaborate with executives as required.
