Job summary

The Venetoulis Institute for Local Journalism (The Banner) is seeking a senior financial analyst who will build and maintain forecast models, generate comprehensive financial reporting, and support cost optimization for the nonprofit local news organization in Baltimore. You will partner with executives and department managers to drive strategic decisions.

Responsibilities include month-end close, variance analysis, and leading Power BI migration with dashboards and data integrity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Five+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong financial analytics background.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Power BI.
  • Ability to communicate with stakeholders.

About this role:

The Banner is a nonprofit, digital local news organization focused on strengthening the Baltimore region through independent, high-quality journalism. What you'll do:

What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
  • Master's degree in business or a related field preferred.
  • At least five years of relevant experience.
  • Strong financial background with working knowledge of financial analytics.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to establish priorities, manage competing responsibilities, and communicate with appropriate stakeholders to establish reasonable deadlines.
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Moderate to advanced Power BI experience required.
Salary Range:

Salary Range: $90k to $115k. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by several factors including experience, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
