Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst – Legal Operations in Princeton, NJ to lead the Legal Department's finance functions. You will own budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and strategic reporting, partnering with Legal leadership to inform decisions and optimize spending.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with FP&A, Accounting, HR, and Treasury, and requires strong modeling, data visualization, and executive communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
• 5+ years of FP&A, corporate finance, or accounting experience.
• Experience budgeting, forecasting, reporting, accrual management, and variance analysis.
• Experience building financial models and delivering insights to non-finance stakeholders.
• Strong Excel, financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual budget, quarterly forecasts, long-range planning, and financial performance management for the Legal Department.
• Develop and present budget assumptions with Legal leadership and Finance.
• Oversee headcount planning, workforce forecasting, and personnel cost analysis.
• Create financial models and scenario analyses to support decisions and resource allocation.
• Provide data-driven recommendations to improve forecast accuracy and department performance.
• Coordinate monthly reviews of operating expenses and outside counsel spend.
• Prepare executive-level reports and dashboards for GC and Legal leadership.
