Job summary

FIS is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed within Tier-1 bank clients, translating modernization goals into production software at scale. You will design future-state architectures, build proofs of concept, and own critical data pipelines while forming trusted partnerships with bank leadership.

The role blends coding, architecture, and client-facing work. Expect startup autonomy with enterprise scale, and up to 25–50% travel to client sites during engagement phases.

Qualifications

• Proven track record shipping robust, scalable infrastructure in Go or similar systems languages (Rust, Java).
• Deep experience with Kafka, concurrency patterns, event-driven architectures, and multi-region databases.
• Strong background in AWS, GCP, or Azure. SRE principles, infrastructure as code, Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Experience building data-intensive systems and distributed data pipelines.
• AI-native engineer who integrates AI into workflow and stays current on LLM capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Embed and discover with bank architecture, infrastructure, and product teams to translate needs into technical requirements.
• Architect future-state architectures to unlock accelerated innovation.
• Build trusted relationships with bank engineering and architecture leadership.
• Translate deployment patterns into product requirements and platform improvements.
• Develop proofs of concept and bank use cases end to end (e.g., digital twins, stablecoin wallets).
• Connect upstream and downstream systems with durable, production-grade integration patterns.
• Build and maintain high-performance data pipelines across bank systems.
• Run performance tests and validate scale, resilience, and failover behavior.
• Support presales with technical demos, architecture workshops, and platform education for prospective clients.
