Job summary

Veeam is seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to own the technical delivery for the most complex customer accounts in Melbourne. You will lead deployments across hybrid environments and design scalable solutions that combine data, security, and AI.

You will mentor peers, build reusable playbooks, and partner with Sales Engineering to drive POCs and customer outcomes. This hands-on role demands strong cloud, Kubernetes, Linux skills and practical delivery experience.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years in deeply technical, customer-facing roles such as forward-deployed engineering or solutions engineering.
• Strong software engineering skills in Python, Go, or TypeScript with ability to read unfamiliar code quickly.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containers, Linux, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud).
• Experience deploying and operating solutions across complex cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments.
• Understanding APIs, data stores (SQL/NoSQL), and data architecture; building integrations and automation.

Responsibilities

• Own technical delivery for the most complex customer accounts, from deployment through scaled use.
• Lead deployments across hybrid environments, including cloud, on-premises, Kubernetes, containers, Linux.
• Define solution architecture for customers with complex data estates, security needs, and business requirements.
• Adapt platform behavior when configurations do not match customer data, workflows, or risk model.
• Build and operate integrations across customer systems, including identity, SIEM, ITSM, data platforms and APIs.
• Diagnose and resolve deep technical issues across data, deployment, infrastructure, and integration layers.
• Build reusable agents, automations, tools, and playbooks for faster, higher-quality delivery.
• Mentor other FDEs by reviewing solutions and sharing patterns; partner on strategic POCs and escalations.
