Job summary

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service, seeks a Senior Forester to lead forestry programs on private and public lands across the state.

Required are a SAF-accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree in Forestry or related field with relevant experience; foreign degrees must be evaluated for equivalency or include key forestry coursework. A valid driver license and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or related field from SAF-accredited college; 2 years forestry/natural resource experience.
• Master’s degree in Forestry or related field from SAF-accredited college; 1 year experience.
• Foreign degree must be SAF-accredited or include two of Silviculture, Dendrology, Forest Mensuration or Forest Management.
• Valid driver license required.

Responsibilities

• Provide forest management technical assistance to rural private forest landowners.
• Advise on timber marking, volume estimation, and sales of forest products.
• Assist with federal cost-share programs, site preparation and tree planting.
• Prepare stewardship and other management plans.
• Support Urban Community Forest initiatives.
