Job summary

Defense Health Agency in Dover, Delaware, is seeking a Supervisory Physician (Pathology) to lead the Forensic Pathology division. This role requires an MD/DO with pathology board certification and active US licensure.

You will supervise a medical/technical team, oversee casework quality, and provide expert consultation to military and legal authorities. A direct hire solicitation and potential relocation incentives may apply.

Qualifications

Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from US/Canada; must be accredited.
Current, active medical license in one US state/territory.
Residency in Pathology with at least 4 years of experience post-residency.

Responsibilities

Supervises and leads a medical/technical team, managing daily operations, performance, and training.
Directs the Forensic Pathology division, setting priorities and ensuring quality and timeliness of casework.
Performs and leads complex forensic autopsies and death investigations to determine cause and manner of death.
Provides expert forensic pathology consultation to military commanders, legal counsel, and investigators.
Delivers expert medical testimony in legal proceedings and explains autopsy findings to courts.
Ensures compliance with accreditation standards via QA programs and peer reviews of reports.
Requires pre-employment and annual health examinations to ensure fitness.
Performs other duties as assigned.
