Job summary

U.S. Army Medicine Civilian Corps in Dover, Delaware, seeks a Supervisory Physician (Pathology) to lead the Forensic Pathology division at Dover facilities. You will supervise medical and technical staff, prioritize casework, and ensure timely, accurate autopsy reports.

Qualifications

  • MD/DO or equivalent degree from US/CA or recognized foreign equivalent
  • Current active medical license in a US state or territory
  • Accredited pathology residency completed
  • Experience in supervisory/leadership roles in a medical setting

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and leads medical and technical staff by managing daily operations, evaluating performance, resolving conflicts, and overseeing hiring and training.
  • Directs the Forensic Pathology division by establishing priorities, providing technical guidance, and ensuring quality and timeliness of casework.
  • Performs and leads complex forensic autopsies and death investigations to determine cause and manner of death.
  • Provides expert consultation to military commanders, legal counsel, and investigators on forensic pathology matters and outcomes.
  • Delivers expert medical testimony in legal proceedings and explains autopsy findings to courts.
  • Ensures the division's compliance with accreditation standards by managing QA programs and peer reviews of reports.
  • Pre-employment and annual health examinations may be required to ensure fitness for duty.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
