Job summary

Rimkus Consulting Group in Detroit is seeking a Mechanical/Forensic Engineer to lead investigations of mechanical failure, perform analyses, and prepare comprehensive reports. You will manage multiple projects, interact with clients, and provide expert opinions and testimony when required.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering, PE license or progress toward it within one year, FE exam, and at least five years of relevant experience; travel up to 25%; full-time exempt

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering.
• FE exam completed and PE license within 1 year preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
• Ability to travel locally up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Perform forensic assignments in mechanical engineering per scope and budget.
• Investigate causes of incidents and mechanical failures.
• Inspect sites and equipment; perform analyses; prepare sketches.
• Conduct analyses of equipment failures and material analyses.
• Prepare oral and written reports detailing findings and remediation steps.
• Provide expert opinions and testimony when required.
• Manage multiple projects and coordinate with other experts.
• Apply industry standards and safety guidelines; document conditions on-site.
