Job summary

Rimkus is a global leader in engineering and forensic consulting, seeking a mechanical engineering professional to perform forensic assignments, analyze incidents, and provide expert testimony as needed. You will inspect sites, conduct analyses, prepare reports, and manage multiple projects in a client-facing role.

The role requires a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, a PE license or progress toward it, FE completion, and at least 5 years of experience with machinery and equipment.

Qualifications

  • High level analytical thinking and attention to detail in accordance with industry practices.
  • Ability to interact with clients both internal and external.
  • Capability to research scientific and technical principles and apply them to cases.
  • Strong ability to read, understand, and analyze expert reports.
  • Clear and coherent technical writing including reports and proposals.
  • Efficiently respond to inquiries from clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to present information to management, clients, or groups as required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform forensic assignments within mechanical engineering scope based on agreed work scope and budget.
  • Investigate incidents to determine if mechanical failure caused damage.
  • Inspect sites and equipment; analyze equipment and materials; prepare sketches as needed.
  • Conduct analyses including design, failure, liability, and materials analysis.
  • Prepare oral and written reports detailing findings, extent of loss, and remediation steps.
  • Provide expert opinions and testimony in deposition and trial as required.
  • Manage multiple projects and coordinate with other experts as needed.
  • Apply engineering tools and standards to analyze issues and document results.
