Job summary

UNT Health Fort Worth is seeking a Senior Forensic Technologist to perform DNA extraction, quantification, amplification, and data loading on analytical instruments. This role supports the Center for Human Identification (CHI) through rigorous testing and documentation.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree with at least one year of related experience and a Texas Forensic Science Commission Forensic Technician License.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and one year of related experience.
• Knowledge of forensic DNA analysis techniques, including extraction, quantification, and amplification.
• Understanding of genetic analyzers and the procedures for loading and processing DNA samples for forensic analysis.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing DNA evidence and maintaining testing logs.
• Ability to oversee and provide training to Forensic Technologist Trainees and Technologist I.

Responsibilities

• Perform extractions, quantitation, amplifications, and load samples on the genetic analyzers for processing of casework samples.
• Maintain proficiency by completing two proficiency tests per year.
• Assist in performing equipment maintenance, performance checks, and calibrations.
• Perform equipment checks and stock laboratories as needed.
• Provide court testimony as required.
